Sedation Dentist
Sedation dentistry is used to provide a relaxing and anxiety-free experience for patients who have anxiety when going to the dentist. Patients take a pill and relax during the procedure and report a pleasant and anxiety free procedure. Although most all procedures these days are pain free, it is the anxiety of the possibility of pain that bothers most patients who suffer from anxiety.
What Is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation Dentistry is the process used to establish a relaxed, easy and calm state through the use of sedatives. Sedative drugs (tranquillizers, depressants, anti-anxiety medications, nitrous oxide, etc.) may be administered at the patient's request. Other options include but are not limited to intravenous (IV) sedation (sedatives delivered via injection into the blood vessels of the hand or arm).
IV sedation is both safe and effective for dental anxiety when administered by a trained professional. Today, sedation dentistry has evolved to be even more conducive to a relaxing experience. Patients have alternatives to the traditional method of inhalation (“laughing gas”) and IVs, such as those offering a "no needle” approach that many patients prefer.
With each level of sedation, Dr. Cieplak and his experienced staff will provide safe, comfortable and anxiety-free dental care with the highest level patient care possible.
